The mechanical lift pump on the side of the three-cylinder diesel, feeding the filters and the injection pump. Same job as the pump on the County, different casting, different mounting — do not assume a part from one machine will serve the other.
Plan
- Drain the tank and lines; inspect for water, scale and diesel bug.
- Strip the pump and assess diaphragm, valves and hand-priming lever.
- Rebuild with a service kit, or replace if the body is pitted through.
Notes
Because the fuel side is going out to a specialist anyway, the lift pump gets done in the same pass. There is no sense putting a rebuilt injection pump behind a lift pump that cannot hold pressure.
